Coating of Bridge Super Structure
October-November 2019
Description of Project and Value Added:
The Client was in the process of erecting a new pedestrian bridge structure at Westbrook Calgary, Alberta. The top truss chords along with the bridge deck structure were to be sent to Dalco’s Red Deer facility for the abrasive blast and coating of all the structural surface, excluding weld cut back lactations. Once the chords and deck were abrasive blasted, Dalco applied a 3-coat system consisting of zinc-rich epoxy primer, epoxy mid-coat, and poly- gloss aliphatic polyurethane topcoat. The blasting and painting process was performed in accordance with SSPC-QP1 certification.
Once the bridge structure was fully erected, Dalco mobilized to site to complete the touch-up blasting and coating of 14 field welds located throughout the bridge structure.
